Can the LOSERS make self-fulfilling PROPHECY of economic DEPRESSION?

I read both sides pointing to the leader of the others warning that the elected person will surely cause prolonging of the economic downturn, maybe even magnification into depression. Is it possible that the losing side may inadvertently cause the prophecy to come true? Not actually wanting it to happen, but perceiving it as a foregone conclusion so they cut back spending, production, etc.. and just exacerbate the problem?
Yes, even NOW, the fact that people are talking about how terrible the economy is doing is enough for the prophecy to fulfull itself. If people are told the economy is in the crapper, they will stop investing and spending, which in turn will slow down the economy, which will guarantee that we are in the crapper.

If Obama gets elected he will send the market crashing further and put our country into a depression for years to come……..then blame it on Bush. You do not raise taxes in a recession! You do not raise the capital gains tax when you are in a recession! You want people to invest to get the economy strong again……..so why raise taxes. It makes no sense whatsoever.
